Hi, i just joined vietcong.info,
I'm verry suprised to see vc2 forum here.
I like to play vietcong, but more i like to play vietcong 2
i didnt no there was a forum like this outside the vietcong2 communetie.
is there also same one hosting server(s) there to?
I have original DVD. What next? Fist Bravo 1.1 is enough? Or should I install also all other patches starting 1.1, then FB 1.0 and FB 1.1? How to make correct instalation?
I am using 5426 instead of 5000. And 15425 is added because on the same PC is running also VC1 server. So can it be a problem that it cannot resolve application for GameSpy port?
I use for vc2 5000 and for vc1 5425 al run ok
If you use a router set your internal ip adress in dmz setings of the router
in that case is port forwarding not necessary
I don't want to use DMZ, it is too dangerous. I have forwarded only ports needed for TS3 server and VC servers. So ... maybe another question - is necessary to set IP adress of server in vcded2 settings? Or I can use default 0.0.0.0 there?
Once you have the port "number" in VC2 you want to use [default is 5000] you then need to port forward that port to your computers IP address - plus allow the port passed your firewall or turn your firewall off to test and turn it back on after. that is all you should have to do.
I don't play vc2 anymore but I have ran a server for vc2.
vc1 needs 2 ports if using port 5425 then you also need to forward 15425 and if using say 6000 then also port 16000 and so on...
I don't know if vc2 needs a 2nd port like vc1 but it worked for me with just the 1 port 'the default port'
Other ports for gamespy if needed are
27000, 28000, 29000, 29001 But I have never had to use these ports apart from Alcatel routers
Techno... how to say ... I'm hosting TS3 server and VC1 server. I know everything about port forwarding etc. My questions were about VC2 because I'm not familiar with it.
Ok np KostiCZ, just by ready your passed post on this board it would appear you had no idea about port forwarding...
Whether it's VC2 VC1 TS RDP or any other game or application, port forwarding rules are all the same. only port numbers are the difference.
I was reading somewhere 'might not be this forum' that someone was asking as well what ports are faster ports and I had a giggle about that, best way to explain that would be, ports are like open and closed doors. there is no such thing as a fast or slow port
Well if you got the port you need forwarded and excepted passed your firewall. sounds like you have it under control.
Vietcong 2 is no exception to any other app, so I don't really understand why you asked the question.
Techno - if I asked about ports I asked because I have no idea WHAT ports VC2 using. I need some list like we have for VC1. If you set port 5425 in VC1 you have to open 5425TCP, 5425UDP, 15425TCP, 15425UDP and some other for web statistics, GameSpy etc. So if somebody tell me open just default port 5000, and I opened 5000 TCP and UDP and still not working, my question is still here - which ports must be opened for VC2 server? I saw there is also port for some remote console - is it necessary?
And second question - what to set in vcded2 menu? There is server IP set to 0.0.0.0 and if I remember well, also some other IP... Can I leave them as zeros?
BTW till end of this year I have to pass exam on CISCO academy to have certificate for my job, so I think I know at least some basics about routers
