Steam Deck

Has anyone managed to get Vietcong working on the Steam Deck? I can load up the main menu, but as soon as I try and start a mission it crashes immediately on load, no matter the Proton version.

If anyone has managed to get it working, please share how.

Hi,

I don't know how Steam Deck is working but have you tried with VCStarter 1.7 BETA yet?
Otherwise I have no clue, sorry...

I figured it out.

1) I got Lutris from the Discovery store and let it install the latest version of Wine.
2) I added a new game, and selected to install a new game
3) I gave it the installer setup.exe and let it install
4) After installing, I pointed the Lutris game to the various patches that needed to be installed, one by one. (v 1.01, 1.30, 1.41, 1.6), running each one and then updating the launch exe to the next patch.
5) Then I extracted the VCStarter 1.65 files and overwrote the original files, and then did the same for VCStarter 1.7.
6) Then I swapped in the patched no-CD Vietcong.exe, and set Lutris to point to that file.
7) Launched and now it works perfectly on the Steam Deck.
