Editor Crash
xNih1Lo
Hello Guys Smile

I started mapping again after a very long time but my editor won't import my .bes files.

Im working with 3DS Max 8 (with all needed plugins), VC Editor 1.61 (also tried the other one) on Windows 10.
I also tried all compatibility modes.

Importing the game .bes files is no problem, but as soon as i import my own created models, it crashes.

Any Ideas?

Best regards

Nihilo

EDIT:

Seems like the Filesize of the textures was too big. Never had this problem in the past. Smile

1. Name your meshes and file bestcase with only letters 'a-z', digits '0-9' and underscore '_' without any spaces or other special characters. that's save.
2. no matter what you give a name, the name length shouldn't exceed 31 positions or so, don't remember the exact length.
3. before exporting use the pterotools 'select spiked faces' and delete them
4. no mesh inside a .bes should share a name
5. if you have an object with too many faces single mesh the engine might crash or produce bugs. pay attention. if a .bes is greater than 1mb in size (if it contains only one mesh) it might be too big.

how can the filesize of a texture be too big? that is not possible.
u can only have :
1. textureresolution is not power of two. if not, then it has no mipmaps and might appear white ingame
2. a texture with dimension greater 2048 in width or height just won't be displayed and appears white ingame on some graphic cards.
3. wrongly compressed texture. either use uncompressed .tga or bmp (i think RGBA 8888 is correct). dds would be a compressed texture. dxt1, dxt3 or dxt5 is working. others are not save.

please be more precise.
