It seems to me that there are some excellent resources on this site (and some other sites) about the VC Editor. Comparing these guides and tips with the Editor's original help file just makes me laugh a bit.... It is very basic.
What I propose is a single site which could act as the place to get all editor information, tutorials and tips.
It would:
- Be an open Wiki where everyone can contribute
- Contain detailed descriptions of as many tools as possible
- Walkthrough the use of as many tools as possible
- Contain tips and tutorials
- Have links to all currently active VC related sites.
- Welcome input from all
- maybe include multi-language translations.
I have started researching possible free Wiki systems that could be used.
Can anyone recommend any that they have used before?
Will include a poll to see if this idea has legs.
Your comments and feedback welcome.
really nice idea martyr. i would take part there with my knowledge. it should contain also 3ds max and blender as part of the map creation . i am sure much other people will like it too!
Dunno if that idea is a good one, i put a lot of effort in several VC sites (Pterodon Forum, Auscong, etc....) and they all vanished...thats the reason why all my Input is now here on this site
I think it's a good idea because we should avoid to have all of our eggs in the same basket! lol
And if it's a "wikipedia", the informations "there" should also stay for a very long time I guess...
But it will still be a very big, long and hard work to do, I'm afraid!

I hear you Bob, but we can only control the things we have. Many sites have disappeared as their owners have lost interest. At least the ownership of a Wiki site can be shared.
Are you the owner of this site btw? I PMed you last year.

I agree. Wiki hosts have tended to keep sites alive over the years. I think a good way to start would be just to copy some articles and tutorials that are already written and put them into one to see. Yes there would be work but shared work would be a lot less work Also, reading other people's contributions might make you think, this is good but I know how to improve it.
So, I've looked more closely at some hosts now and if we go ahead with this, I could show a couple of examples of how it might look and function.
