I have been looking on internet for pteromat plugins (not sure if I type it correctly) for 3ds max 2010 without luck. There's nothing above 3ds max 8 that I could find.
I was wondering if anyone has this version and can tell me where I can find them, if they're needed, or how to work with this version on my terrains, with textures etc....
I can't install older versions like 7 or 8 cos of certain errors.
The problem is that previous versions like 8 or 7 aren't working well for me. For example. I've installed 3DS Max 7 and I get an error when try to work with maps... It says something like error creating 3D device (or similar) and I have no idea about how to fix it. 3DS Max 8 I can't install at all.
Graphic card is the one pc has installed, I haven't modified it and I don't understand much about graphic cards but it didn't use to give me errors with the version 7. It happened suddenly. And I do have the lastest drivers. Everything's updated.
The 8 I can't install because when it's about to end installation proccess, get a warning screen saying installation was aborted cos of an installation problem. and then closes itself. (I've tried installing the program by downloading from different sites, etc... and no one worked, always the same warning)
The plugins have to be recompiled in order to run with newer 3ds Max versions than 8 / 2008 ...
Unfortunately we don't have the sourcecode for all .bes plugin files. Recently we compiled the .stg plugin for 3Ds Max 12.
It should be possible to create a Plugin for newer Version based on existing files, but you need to find someone who does it.
David Baker from maxplugins is able to do it, but you have to donate.
I had same problem as you did SIR, and was also going to add hard drive with xp ,I tried Jimmy's solution: I use 3dmax7 on windows7, it worked perfect, maybe double check you did as he said to. Thanks Jimmy for your input!

I already have done the downgrade from 7 to Xp, so bit hard to check it. But I guess maybe I made some step wrong then, or could be anything related to graphic card compatibility with windows 7 and that could be why didn't work for me? I ain't sure about it, but would swear I made all steps as he mentioned (which I also found on internet when had the problem, and it was the same procedure)
By the way, SGT PEPPER, did you try to install 3D max 8 and it failed for you too? Or just got the version 7?
Thanks once again mates . And if I reinstall Windows 7 I'll post the results here.
I only have 3dmax7, I do get a pop-up before max starts, click yes to that, then get one after it starts and click ok to it. So far so good everything works as it did for xp
