How to start my own Vietcong 2 server?
vietcong2tunngle
Hi guys,

I'm new here...
I want to learn how to start my own dedicated Vietcong 2 server.
I've seen numerous "tutorials" on how to do it for Vietcong 1, and I've seen some (less detailed) on how to do it for Vietcong 2, but I never succeeded, and I need help.

THE QUESTION
I want to know which ports to forward, and how to get it all working.
So, how can I setup my own Vietcong 2 server?

WHAT WORKS SO FAR
So, I have a Vietcong 2 game with version 1.009.
I have the "Openspy" patch, and I can see other servers (found the patch here: http://vc2.ueuo.com/page1.html ).
I can create LAN server and play locally.

MY GEAR
I have a Technicolor TC7200 router from my ISP.
It has a port forwarding option, but its interface looks a little differently from this one here: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Technicolor/TC7200/
I have:
- A computer (server) with Windows 8.1 (and my Vietcong 2 runs smoothly on it).
- A local IP address (192.168.0.222) on that computer
- Avast antivirus on PC
- Disabled firewall

WHAT I'VE TRIED
I tried to open ports 5425, 15425 and 5000 for both UDP and TCP. Found the tutorial here: http://www.vietcong.info/portal/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=919&pid=10344#post_10243
Port 5425 seems to be a port for Vietcong 1. By default my Vietcong 2 has the port 5000 on server setup screen, so I forwarded that port too.
I disabled windows firewall. I turned my Avast shields down during the server setup.
I don't have a Public IP, except the one my ISP gave me... So I entered "What is my IP" in Google, and used this as my Public IP.
In port forwarding option the router asks few information (example for port 5000):
- internal start port: 5000
- internal end port: 5000
- internal IP address: 192.168.0.222
- external start port: 5000
- external end port: 5000
- external IP address: 213.147.114.183 (this is from Googling "What's my IP"Wink
- protocol: BOTH (TCP/UDP)
(see attachment: screenshot.jpg)
Then I opened my vc2ded.exe and in the "Settings" tab I entered my external IP address. The port was already set to 5000.
When I clicked "Start server" I got this error: "Server could not be initialized".

What am I doing wrong here?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance!

Cheers!
