It might take 5 minutes for Qtracker to notice your server, a bit uncomfortable, I know.

The a * friend * got a colleague meant also plays Vietcong and the copy of the * hosts * file or insert the IP `s with the Admin rights to his Pc had difficulties.

Copy with Admin rights to his Pc is for many already the beginning of the end, Pc has everyone can play, and everyone but the errors occur from fängts to.

The link I sent come from QTRACKER (not from my website), QTRACKER is the only one website allow to inform everybody how to find all VC server, without need change anything in the game (install patch, or anything cracking a file, or install anything else...)
And it working for VC 1.01 like 1.60.
Don't forget that 100% player discovering this game are downloading the game from internet by P2P or else and then start to play on 1.01 version before know that some patches exist...Then if you want keep this game alive, think to the "potential" new player coming.
Then continu to write some alternative solution (with batch will be out of date in few month , from a website closed in few month, with more complicated things to do) and everybody will be lost with 100 differents solutions.

On 25 July, I have been the first to give solution and confirm the solution work fine here.
Nobody did it befoire like nobody could confirm before Gamespy is down if the solution with hosts could work or not.
And you came to give another solution, from another website (website I found down a couple of time for maintenance)
Qtracker gave a solution with all necessary explaination to their website.
They host themselves a host file contain IP adress that only them could KNOW , then please .. stop tell me that you can do better than them.
Qtracker don't working only for VC but for lot of game too.
Then Sorry, I prefer downloading a host file from them, than from a website made by "i don't know who", down lot of time.
As you said : When it work, it work .. then apply to yourself what you say.

Keep your website and your script for your friends and don't add more confusion to fix the pb with visible server for Vietcong. I think that people like you destroyed this game enough with "cracked" server allow 64 player to all map .. and more wrong things i will not develop here.

gameranger has 5 Millions connecting players availabe and you want to start connecting over IP Connecting, it´s more complicated. Check that serverlists, it´s very comfortable and you can host without config something, because it´s automatically UPnP configuring, if this don´t work, you have to open just only 3 ports, then you can host and play 300 games.

You just see only all black and negative. I host and play all games with gameranger, I don´t want to ingame connect.
One klick and you see 1000 of servers.
It´s very comfortable.

Hi Kurtz, you may have done it all alright, but there's a crucial point in finding the correct path, which may not be very easy for all the players, so you may try downloading http://vietcong1....racker.bat and running this script (maybe with right mouse button and "Run as an administrator" command). This should fix it for you.
i did what you wrote: dl, cut, paste the file hosts... but it doesn't work.
any suggestions?

1 - Download
2 - Unzip
3 - Copy file hosts unzipped and Paste it in good directory : C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
No need check Firewall, no need reboot .. no need sing a song or jumping with 1 leg...
