The gamespy support, responsible for the service, that each player (and some online websites as well) will see the recent (dedicated and nondedicated) online servers in the list inside of his game, will find its end one day, this is certain.
Why I predict this?
Very easy, because it already happened half a year ago for a very related game (from the same manufacturer which also developed VC) "Hidden and dangerous 2".
The service was switched off over night, with no warning, and I assume, the scene in HD2 was even more active as the scene in VC even at that point of time.
The result after half a year in HD2 is now, that the activity of clans and players is reduced to appr. 10% of the activity, that was shown before the gamespy support had ended.
The official statement by Gamespy in this issue was, that the support was paid by Pterodon/Gathering just for some years and it ended one year ago even, so the support was made for a whole year for free finally...
A reason, that is actually understandable... at least for me...
In detail this means: you start your game, and the list of available servers is empty.
And it will never show up any of the online servers in the future any more.
What I would like to achieve here and right now, to see the VC-scene to be prepared to the day X, because it is certain that the gamespy support will end as well for VC.
There should be found a solution to get rid of the dependence from Gamespy, or the VC-scene will suffer the same sad destiny, that HD2 had experienced.
IF there is a solution, please find it, the earlier, the better...
