I think that HOST file is a part of windows not Vietcong...Kangeruh wrote correct location for most people (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS)....dont know where u read that is located in Vietcong folder
Yes, Bird Flu is right. The 'hosts' file is located at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\ and it has no extension. It can be edited using the win. notepad but you have to be careful to save the file with no extension again (not as *.txt).
Hi nice work!
I am sorry for not being active a had lots of work with my diploma thesis. I want ask if we can use this approach for www.vietcong1.cz?
Can someone pleace create some safe aplication that will use appurl? in past old site vietcong.cz had such an app and i dont think that downloading bat files is good idea. Some links that i found :

EA Games announced gamespy shutdown at 30th June, 2014
http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates
I think EA games bought gamespy services for a month because they haven't a solution for their online games. What do u think about it?
Risky Dingo, this topic deal about GameSpy shutdown.
I and we don't care totally for your personnal problem with high ping but if you are not happy, I suggest you to making a server by yourself and enjoying the happiness to admin a Vietcong Server now...
Else Zombe, thx for info with EA Game platform, in this case, maybe 1 month more to enjoy Vietcong with Gamespy ...who know
Enjoyed playing with you, as you were always a class act in-game. Just like me, I gather that you like strategy and tactics vs. run-n-gun. Twitch playing has its place -- but it does get old after awhile.
Sorry to see you go, Risky Dingo. You will be missed.
Those European guys PURPOSELY locate their servers far away from the U.S. They could put their servers here in the U.S. but they don't. And why? Because they need that "low ping" advantage when US players play against them. I have them all figured out.
I have sent you a PM in case you wish to use my solution to this problem: the Low Ping Hack. Might help, and if it keeps you playing Vietcong -- then I want to make it available to you.
Ehm... I placed Vietcong.info servers in Europe simply because ... I'm hosting them at home. If you want server in U.S., you can host some servers there. Sorry, but I will not do it. Maybe I can arrange some servers in U.S. but community should pay them.
I believe I should state here on behalf of a lot more people than just myself, that we're grateful to those hosting (and thus paying) VC servers and portals and enabling others to use them for free. So thank you, and don't be taking those selfish/idiotic posts, which appear sometimes, too seriously.
To address Risky Dingo's comments regarding the USA Servers that only play small or certain maps over and over.....most of us here in North America also get tired of playing them as well, however, as "Admin" of the "HEADHUNTERS ::]HC[:: =USA=" Server, when you don't have the numbers (generally 10 or less players) to play the medium to large size maps, it forces you to play the smaller to medium size ones over and over. Otherwise, players will leave and play somewhere else or just not play.
The number of players from all over who had been playing in our server has dropped dramatically since March of this year and I don't know why. Prior to that we were playing different maps, many of which had not been played for years and were having a lot of fun doing it since we got our dedicated server running late last year (2013). It was one of the reasons it was the most popular at night during our prime-time hours here in the USA for about 6-months.
Our server, being located in the USA, was busiest with North Americans playing, generally during the evening hours between 7pm-Midnight. Since most of the people still playing Vietcong are located in Europe where there is a huge difference in time (approximately 6-8 hours) it is difficult to get 12-20 players in our server during these times. As a result the smaller, redundant maps keep getting played.
Sadly to say I believe that as far as North America and the USA are concerned Vietcong is dying off. Most players in this region of the world have moved on to the newer games.
HEADHUNTERS will maintain our Vietcong server as long as we can get adequate numbers of players during our prime-time hours. Sorry if the maps we play for the fewer number of players now participating bore anyone.
Could you move this topic away ... Europe and USA are technically not compatible ..
Same for USA, BrRazil, Europe, Asia, Australia.
We just CANNOT play all on a same server without causing trouble to the server due to high ping (causing lag, crash for 1.01 ..Etc)
Then that's all and stop dreaming about LowPing Hack or else .. it's technical and nothing can fix it.
Make a server to USA or pay for it ... is the only solution for you.
Could you create a topic away for this .. this topic deal about end of Server supported by GameSpy
Bye
