Personally, I still have many "Work In Progress" on the table (new VC_ and FA_ updates + new betas + 1 new custom map) but the hardest for me is to actually find the motivation and the free time!
Hi,
Still lots of gamers active every day/evening/night so thats ok , also there are still new folks joining and some older vc players who left are comming back .
Sinds i have a new Gpu my 3d max does not work anymore , respons from ati customerservice was 'You should not buy a gamecard for your 3d max workstation"
So i stopped my new projects and moved to arma2 mission editor for now.and there are enough very good map makers arround for this small coop community i guess
Gr
Hey DSOP-Apache, what's the exact problem you're having with 3ds max? And what version do you have? Also tried to update graphics drivers? Reinstalled max?
Hi
I already wrote the ATI helpdesk and they say my ATI Sapphire Radeon 5770 is not compatible with programs like 3 dmax and i still use 8 because the ptero plugins are only compatible with those versions.
I tried almost everything already but max wont work or just in 256 colors .
Iam about sick of trying making it work so i just forgot about the lot just now , and iam back in arma 2 mission editor for some old school coop missions
I have updated my gpu drivers several times with different drivers.
I have reinstall 3d max about 6 times and at last i made contact with the customer service of ati radeon .
The problem is that 3dmax dont start ,but i can make it work but then its only 256 colors . after freaking about for weeks and no results i just gived up because the respons from aTi was also not that hopefull.
its good you made this post apache because the program gets stuck on the splash-screen for me and i have a hd6770. maybe it simply isnt compatible (i first thought Windows7 was the source of evil again).
Just came across this post thought I would say Hello, been gone for a while
a group of friends & I are going to start getting back into VC, been off playing other games
but find our selves back playing vc again. I have a few maps and customs I never finished so
I will start getting back to it and try finishing them off.

I've got the same problem now (HD6970). I'm sure it's a graphics driver problem. But I don't want to use older ones (like from 13.4 back to 12.1).
That really sucks...
@DSOP-Apache
I wanted to send you a PM but your inbox is full.
Hey!
Maybe I've found a fix! I hope you want to try. I don't know about any side effects yet, so it would be good if you could check that.
Graphics mode shouldn't matter, but I'd go with d3d9.
Get Process Explorer: http://technet.mi...96653.aspx
Start up max, it freezes I guess (as it does for me). Leave it open and run process explorer.
Doubleclick the 3dsmax.exe process and in the properties window, click the "Threads" tab (you may have to accept a warning the first time).
There you see a list of threads. Search for "Start Address" atiumdva.dll!MmdDxxCreateDevice+0x... and click the "Kill" button on bottom for all of them (there may be multiple).
This should do it, max should unfreeze now.
Hope it's really that easy.
EDIT: Damn, it works for a HD3870@cata13.1 but not for a HD6970@cata13.4 :(
EDIT2: It seems that even if you choose OpenGL renderer, it still tries to initialize direct3d and freezes there.
Okay, I've found another way: Put these files into the 3ds max directory where 3dsmax.exe is:
<PM me for the files, my rapidshare is gone>
Rename one of them to atiumdag.dll and start up max. It should work now, if not, try with the other dll (for me, both work, 814 is just an even older driver).
