Polycount
sniperjack
Hi people,

I'm building a map for VC1.

My question is, is there a possibility to see how many polygons/triangles the map contains?
I'm wondering, for example, how many triangles HalongPort has, than a have an example.

Is there an option in the editor, or an other program?
Does anybody knows how many poly's I can use, and the engine still works pretty good? Grin

Thanks.

oh shit, at first i thought you mean the website.

you can see the count when you select all objects in the scene.
-> on top of the editor panel is the poly and drawcall count.

In Max 7 I deselect everything, hit 7 and then select whatever to see the counts.

edit:
Ah ok, you meant within the editor.

For polys I think it's very tricky to tell but I learned that one should leave some headroom because the fps can vary a lot from editor map to finalized map.

Found it.
Halong port is about 30K.
I think I stick to that. Than de pc's and engine can handle it easy Smile
Thanks for the tips.

I don't want to start a new thread so just a small question here:

How to change sharp edges/polygons back to smooth in 3ds max?

Here's what I mean:

I only know that in editable poly-mode you can select polygons and go down to smoothing groups. There I usually "clear all" and do an "auto smooth".
