Here is the strange problem that I'm facing...
Last night, I was playing FA_Moorland with friends and we decided to switch to the nextmap, VC_Conquest. In spite of my VC game isn't very stable for weeks now (crash to desktop for unknown reason and at any moment), I'm still able to load the "nextmaps" without a problem. But last night, my game suddenly froze on the loading bar of VC_Conquest and Vietcong used almost 100% of the CPU power (not responding). The first "sections" of the loading bar never start and I'm obliged to "kill the process"...
Apparently, I have the same problem with the default HamburgerHill's map... I tried with some other maps and it seems to work!
My tests:
-Made a HD ScanDisk (no errors found)
-My maps folder has less than 50 maps (under the 1 Go)
-I've re-installed VC_Conquest map (test failed)
-I renamed my maps folder to create a new one with only VC_Conquest in it (test failed)
-Made the test with Stream, Jarai,... (working, no freeze)
-Levels folder is "closed" for the game (folder renamed)
...
I'm way too tired for the moment to continue the post, or to remember things that I tested, but I thought it could help me to post the problem in the forum to have maybe suggestions that I will read after some hours of sleep! lol
Maybe one of you already got such a kind of problem...?
No mate, nothing because the loading of the map don't even start.
VC_Conquest is made by you, so do you remember any "special" script, which you used for the map?
are you playin with or without FA AddOn?
any other mods are installed?
Indeed, but I'm almost sure it's not because of the map. All my VC_maps have been intensively tested, and I play them a lot to know they are "bugs free". All my scripts are "original" and contains no special features either...
I play with the FistAlpha addon and without mods or "extra cbf files"...
try to start your map with editor, GAME -> GAME MENU, check out if it will show you some errors, maybe you can test "switch to nextmap", also.
The map is "clean", my mates can load and play the map without a problem. I'm the only one who can't (and the original HH) anymore, and I have really no idea why. Last weekend, VC_Conquest was still "ok" because I went there with Mudspanker. The problem is on my side with "a corruption" somewhere but which one...? Mystery!
The "nextmap" command don't work with the Editor, and I've just noticed that I can't load my VC_Conquest map in the Editor either! The Editor is "not responding" and I have no "errors" messages either! I'm lost...
Well, inspite all my trials, I haven't been able to fix my problem. The only solution was to re-install Vietcong... I can load the Hamburger Hill maps again!
So, if you're facing the same "bug", the only solution would be to do the same because it's apparently due to a file corruption...
