-"Houston, we have a problem!"
-"DuckHouston copy, whassup?"
I've been running the 'cong server "ducks coop range" for quite some time. The server hardware is Very Old, various troubles have emerged before, including pesky stuff resulting in HD and mobo replacement. Replaced the power source too once.
Dunno yet what is the problem this time but the server machine keeps crashing. I'm working on it, but so far have not found the actual source of the trouble. The server is down for the moment.
(Calling it "DuckRecon" as the old Ghost Recon game has been running there too occasionally.) (Plus the "DuckRecon" sounds cool hehe.)
The box is so old that I might donate it to the Smithsonian to represent the definition of "Ancient Old". Could even afford to get a new machine with the museum artefact reward, whaddaya think?
And the question: can Vietcong / vcded run on Windows 10? Noted one thread here on forums stating that it works... any special tricks needed? The main question: Does the server program vcded run without problems?
That would be the way to upgrade then. If you have fresh advice, experiences, please share, here or via the private messages! If a brand new or secondhand win10 box will work, that would be the solution.
There have been a bunch of players on the "range", thank you for keeping it lively, and of course the Regulars, nice game nights every now and then. Keep rockin'!
Hookey, the "new range" is there. Some tweaks to do still, but seems to run nicely.
vcded was fairly easy, works with vcguard, much much more headaches with the win10.
(This has been a crash course in fiddling with the win10 settings and stuff.)
We tested the server this week, "action" is a bit different... somewhat faster.
Overall a good impression. Hope you like it!
